Creating a “postcard” marketing campaign with Every Door Direct Mail is similar to doing standard postcard marketing. You would follow the same steps you would if you were creating a standard postcard marketing campaign, except you wouldn’t need a mailing list, it’s a little cheaper to do an EDDM campaign, you can have different sizes, and you don’t need a bulk permit.
Let’s take a look at the four key differences between standard postcard direct mail and Every Door Direct Mail.
Currently you can mail an Every Door Direct Mail piece for less than what it would cost you to mail a standard postcard. Right now the cost of mailing an EDDM piece is 18.3 cents per any sized piece within the EDDM size limits. To mail a standard postcard is 35 cents per piece within the standard postcard size.
Let’s look at a postcard expense example for 3,000 mail pieces.
To mail 3,000 EDDM pieces: $549
To mail 3,000 Standard Postcards: $1,050
By using Every Door Direct Mail instead of standard postcards you can save $501 on a 3,000 piece mailing.
There’s a much greater size variation for Every Door Direct Mailers than when you use regular postcards. Below we’ve listed the maximum and minimum dimensions for EDDM and Standard Postcards.
EDDM max/min dimensions:
Max EDDM Size: 15″ long or 12″ high or .75″ thick
Min EDDM Size: 11.5 long or 6.125″high or .25″ thick
Standard max/min dimensions:
Max Postcard Size: 6″ long by 4.25″ high by .016″ thick
Min Postcard Size: 3.5″ high x 5″ long x 0.007″ thick
